Q&A
Q:I was playing around with the resolution and pressed on 1080p at 30hz where my tv does not recognise this
signal. Thus, do you know how i can get back the old settings as I get no signal
now when I connect hdmi? Is there a reset button somewhere?

A:if you can confirm your video out is HDMI,
1.press set up;
2.press tv mode, then press 7 of the RC

Q: I have to buy the new one EG-M31B and truly are satisfied of the product. I use the player without internal hard disk, the player is only connected on internal LAN.
With this configuration is possible turn off the (not connect) the inner fan in order to eliminate the produced noise.

A: You can plug out the FAN from the board, there is a little white connector between the fan and main board,
unit will work well but just temperature will raise, pls note!

Q:the product can't connect with VISTA PC,but XP system is ok
A:I presume they are trying to connect via Samba.

Note that network sharing (Samba) via Vista has high level of
security, in most cases a username and password is required,
unlike with WinXP.

Therefore, the users simply just need to enter the username
and password for accessing the network share.

Q:The problem is that always when I want to play my videos I can't see any video output from box. I can hear the sound, but no video. I'm using HDMI output and I tried Composit as

well, but effect is the same. GUI is working fine, also pictures are working, but video don't. I upgraded firmware from 0818 to the last one 081023, but it didn't help. Also I upgraded

NMT software.
As I'm able to hear sound when the movie plays, I think all is working, but standard video output from player (I think it's called mono) is redirected somewhere, So I'm not able to see it.

A:
1.maybe the video stream is too large for the chipset, but audio is little,so the main chip can decode it.

2. if other files is same, you can reset to factory setting for checking.
from maintaince----->select "reset to factory setting"

3.Maybe you have started some commands via telnet and that caused that brightness, contrast, stauration and hue were set to 0. 1

Why do I need an NMT?
There are several reasons why you need an NMT. If you have a large media collection and would like to view it on your plasma/projector/home theater system. This is one of the most

cost-effective ways to avoid investing in a HTPC. You can stream music, pictures and most importantly videos. The NMT supports H.264 video which is a compliant 1080p HiDef

codec used by Bluray and HD-DVD. The second generation of NMT players with HDMIv1.3 support HD audio codec passthrough.
What do I need in order to play back from an NMT?
There are several streaming options available for play back.
1) Install Myihome provided by manufactory(inside CD-R)
2) Install Llink provided by Lundman - http://www.lundman.net/wiki/index.php/Llink
3) Connect to your PC via NFS / SMB network connection.
4) Connect to your NAS via NFS / SMB / UPNP AV.
5) Install an internal HDD/external HDD.
6) Hook up an external DVD ROM (for non-css encrypted DVD only)

How do I connect my NMT (Egreat) to my home theater system?
1) You need to have a optical cable and plug it into any of the optical inputs of your AVR (Audio Video Receiver). Make sure that your M31A/M31B/M32B is setup to output as Digital

PCM for whatever audio codec. For example, AC3 needs to be setup to Digital PCM for your AVR to detect as AC3 signal.
2) The eGreat supports an HDMI connection as well, if your AVR supports HDMI, you can connect to it directly.
3) There is a 2 channel RCA stereo output available for your 2 channel amp or simply hook it up to your TV.
4) The M31B/M32B can passthrough HD audio codecs via HDMIv1.3 to a suitable AVR.

Do I need to install an internal hard disk in order to use my NMT?
1) No, you can stream movies/music/pictures from your PC or NAS (network attached storage).
2) You can attach an external USB storage device which contains the media.
Network Performance and Support
What are the supported file system for NMT?
File system read supported: EXT2/3, NTFS, FAT16/32, HFS+
File system write supported: EXT2/3, FAT16/32. NTFS write (not supported and low priority in to do list)

How should I configure the network for my NMT?
Under current firmware releases you really should only use "manual IP" mode and not "automatic". There is a bug where the NMT doesn't correctly store your network's supplied DNS

(domain name server) IP addresses and so the internet services (Media service portal, youtube, etc.) will probably NOT work correctly if you don't enter your own "manual IP"

settings. From main screen choose setup -> network -> mode...change to "manual IP"...click on [save].
Next choose [configure IP] button and check the IP numbers in each field. For the two DNS fields you should use either the DNS IPs supplied by your ISP (Internet service provider) or

the internal IP address of your home router.

What type of network sharing does the NMT built-in NAS support?
SMB, FTP, NFS
What streaming speeds should I expect from the various network connection methods?
SMB: ~38Mbps
NFS: ~33Mbps
HTTP: ~42Mbps (same clip peaks at 47Mbps)
USB HDD: ~ 42Mbps
USB DVDROM (8x): ~42Mbps
Internal HDD: ~42Mbps

What is the best network connection for playing back high bitrate content?
Looking at the above chart, HTTP will be the preferred method for streaming. However, HTTP protocol does not support .iso/.ifo format at the moment. The next best choice is

SMB/NFS.
Why can't I view my DVD .iso file using MyiHome?
Myihome does not support DVD playback. Please use SMB/NFS for playback instead.
I am experiencing video/audio dropouts when playing some high bit rate contents.
1) Try using an SMB/HTTP connection. They are the streaming protocols that offer the highest streaming speed.
2) Make sure that you do not have a problem with your network connection. If you are using WIFI, try switching to a wired connection as WiFi is not sufficient for high bitrate HD files.

How do I add SMB/NFS shares?
1) Setup SMB share: Goto Setup->Media Server->Network Share, you can browse your SMB network and add the path to the list, or manually enter the path to your SMB share, e.g.

smb://<hostname or ipaddr>/foldername
2) Setup NFS share: Goto Setup->Media Server->Network Share, type in the full path to your NFS share, e.g. nfs://<hostname or ipaddr>:/foldername (note the colon after hostname
With firmware 0330 or newer you can select the protocol (TCP or UDP) used for the NFS connection:
* "nfs://" = udp
* "nfs-tcp://" = tcp
Some firewalls, including the WinXP firewall, will block critical parts of udp NFS server connections, even if correctly configured. If you experience a "No content found" error when

using udp, try switching to tcp.

How do I get NFS/SMB/UPNP AV Server functions from the NMT?
You need to install an internal HDD and the NMT apps in order to get the following servers:
1. SMB server
2. NFS server
3. UPnP AV server
4. myiHome server
5. FTP server
6. Torrent downloader
7. Usenet downloader
The default username/password for remote access and FTP is:
username:ftpuser password:1234.
The default username/password for SMB access is:
username:nmt password:1234
the share name is share
For NFS, the hard drive is exported under the following path:
/opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK

How do I use the Transmission client?
Transmission is the alternative BitTorrent client on your NMT. It listens on port 8077. The port used for incoming connections is by default: 51413. You can change this in your NMT's

settings, or in the preferences in the web interface (Clutch). This client is accepted by most private trackers.
To enter the Transmission / clutch interface, go to :
http://IP-OF-YOUR-NMT:8077
Example:
http://192.168.1.150:8077
The client will by default download to "/share/Download". This can be changed in the clients web interface. At the bottom of your web interface, there is a picture of a cog wheel.

Click this and a screen with Preferences will pop up.

To download to external drives, simply replace "/share/Download" with your prefered external drive.
Example:
If you want to download to "USB_DRIVE_A-1", simply enter "/USB_DRIVE_A-1/" in the downloads field.

Problems known at the moment:
1. Slow download/upload compared to for example uTorrent
2. Can't use some private trackers
3. No DHT
4. Many features not editable; numbers of connections, individual download/upload speed etc.
The easiest way to control Clutch is by the Firefox Add-on that you can find here:
- Download: http://imtcb.com/clutchadd.xpi.zip
- Discussion: http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5246

How do I use the BPTD client ?
BPTD is the elder BitTorrent client available on your NMT. It listens on port 8883. The port used for incoming connections is by default: 8881. You can change this in your NMT's

settings. (This client is banned on many private trackers because of incorrect transfer statistics.)

To enter the BPTD interface, go to:
http://IP-OF-YOUR-NMT:8883/torrent/bt.cgi
Example:
http://192.168.1.150:8883/torrent/bt.cgi
Torrentwatch - Automatic downloading by RSS
Torrentwatch is a script written by journey4712 (creed to more people?) which is designed to help you fetch torrents of TV shows from RSS feeds over the net. It will still work for

other rss feeds, tv shows are just the focus. The script also supports a watch folder to make it easier to add torrents to your PCH from anywhere that you have ftp, smb, or nfs

access to your Networked Media Tank.
Google Code: Torrent Watch for latest release
Problems known at the moment:
1. No distinguishing between files being downloaded and finished downloads (maybe a Clutch problem, not moving the files from the download directory?)
2. No possibility to change the update time to less than once every hour

How do i reset to factory default?
Setup -> Maintenance -> reset factory default
***Note this is the only way to revert back to defaults. The reset pin introduced in EGREAT only reboots (power cycles)
your EGREAT. Also Power, wait 2 sec, then press eject, will do the same as pressing the reset button in front of the EGREAT

How do I fully shutdown the player when there is no power-off button?
Press 'Power' once and release it, then wait 2 secs and press 'Delete'
To turn on the EGREAT after complete shutdown you will need to unplug and then plug in the power cable. The EGREAT can be restarted by pressing the reset button.

How do I reset the player?
You can use your remote to perform a reset instead of unplugging and re-plugging the power cord.
Press 'Power' and release it, wait 2 secs, then press and release 'Eject'
Can I plug in an external DVD rom?
Yes you can, the USB port can support an external DVD rom. However, the sigma 8635 chip does not support CSS encryption. Your DVD must not be CSS protected.
Can I eject the external DVD rom by using the remote?
Yes, there is an eject button on the remote.
Can an external USB HDD function like an internal HDD?
A USB HDD will not have same functionality as an internal drive. An internal drive is considered a non-removable drive that allows NMT apps to mount, but a USB HDD is considered a

removable drive so the NMT is not able to dynamically mount and unmount the NMT apps.
What are the TV-mode shortcut keys command?
!!!PRESS&RELEASE 'TVMode', WAIT TWO SECONDS, PRESS THE NUMBER KEY!!!
- 'TVMode' wait '0' = Auto TV mode (Please use it only for FAILSAFE)
- 'TVMode' wait '1' = Composite NTSC 480i
- 'TVMode' wait '2' = Composite PAL 576i
- 'TVMode' wait '3' = reserved
- 'TVMode' wait '4' = Component 720p60
- 'TVMode' wait '5' = Component 1080i60
- 'TVMode' wait '6' = Component 1080p60
- 'TVMode' wait '7' = HDMI 720p60
- 'TVMode' wait '8' = HDMI 1080i60
- 'TVMode' wait '9' = HDMI 1080p60
- 'TVMode' wait 'Caps/Num' = Toggles between 50/60 Hz, can be used in browser
After getting out of standby, there is no video signal.
This is caused by the Video output mode being changed using the TV mode key and then not being saved to flash. - Workaround: Goto Setup->Audio / Video, and do a save.
